No freak accident with Cote’s knee

Cote has poor body mechanics. Several times you can see him twisting his knees while charging in. And finally his poor body use did him in.

I got UFC 70 from Netflix and it was the usual fare until a bout between David Heath and Lyoto Machida. I was impressed with his ability to neutralize his opponent and counter-attack. He was dominating the match on points, by dancing around the ring, sneaking in little leg sweeps and forward kicks. All the while Heath was clearly getting more and more frustrated. Then, in the final round, Heath made a mistake and Michada caught his head and delivered 7 knee blows in a row, bringing Heath to the ground. At this point he began to deliver blows and attempt several locks, showing that he is not just a skilled karate and Muay Thai arist, but with excellent jiu-jitsu skills as well.

The crowd wanted to see a brawl and they did not get it and booed Machida. Me on the other hand, I have to applaud his brilliant tactical dissection of the enemy, especially since he was clearly lighter than Heath.

I have a new hero. I spent all night watching everything I could find on Youtube with him in it. In the process, I ran across a Vietnamese firecracker named Cung Le. He has some super sweet kicks and ended up cracking Frank Shamrocks arms in their bout.
